Aftercare Recommendations for Spinal Flow Therapy

To maximize the benefits of your sessions and support your body’s healing journey, it’s important to follow appropriate aftercare practices. Below are recommendations to guide you:

1. Hydration is EXTREMELY important.

Spinal Flow Therapy can stimulate the release of toxins as the body’s systems realign. Staying well-hydrated supports this detoxification process. It also regenerates the cerebrospinal fluid which is primarily water. Our body naturally generates up to 600 mls of CSF a day without the Spinal Flow Technique so that water is drawn from your body’s stores.

● Drink plenty of water after your session (at least 2 liters within 24 hours).

● Avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks that may dehydrate you.

● Herbal teas, especially those with anti-inflammatory properties (e.g., chamomile or ginger), are also beneficial.

● Not drinking enough water while receiving treatment can result in dehydration

2. Listen to Your Body, Rest and Relaxation

Allow your body time to integrate the shifts that occur during therapy. Be attentive to how your body feels in the hours and days following your session. The Spinal Flow can stay active for several days.

● Avoid strenuous activities immediately after your session.

● Prioritize restful sleep; consider a short nap if you feel fatigued.

● Engage in relaxation practices, such as meditation, yoga, or gentle stretching.

● Some individuals may experience an emotional or physical release; this is a natural part of the healing process.

● If discomfort or soreness occurs, consider gentle remedies such as a warm bath, heat pack, or light stretching.

3. Avoid Stressors and be Mindful of Your Mindset

Your body’s healing capacity is heightened after therapy, so it’s important to minimize unnecessary stress.

● What can you do to eliminate or reduce, physical, emotional and chemical stress in your daily life?

● Engage in activities that bring you joy and promote a sense of peace.

● Mindset is a HUGE part of living a joyful life. Energy flows, where focus goes! What are you focusing on? It's called the law of attraction for a reason. Whether you believe in it or not, it IS law. Just like the law of gravity. Are you focusing on every negative aspect of your life? Constantly worrying? What is your inner self talk? It may seem monumental but even the slightest shift from negative to positive creates a snowball effect in your life.

● Attitude of gratitude. Embrace gratitude as much as you can. Even if just starts with your cup of coffee in the morning, or the bed you are tucked into at night. The more you consciously look at things to be grateful for, the more you will see and find the abundance of gratitude in your life.

4. Follow-Up Sessions

Consistency is key to achieving long-term benefits from Spinal Flow Therapy.

● Attend follow-up sessions as recommended by your practitioner.

● If you feel like “I don’t feel very good, or I have a headache, I’m going to cancel” That is absolutely when you NEED to come to help move that through.

● Communicate any changes or concerns with your therapist to ensure personalized care.

5. Journaling or Reflection

Spinal Flow Therapy may evoke insights or shifts on an emotional level.

● Spend time journaling any thoughts, feelings, or realizations that arise.

● Reflect on patterns or habits that may contribute to physical tension or misalignment.

6. Nutrition

Support your body’s healing by nourishing it with whole, nutrient-dense foods.

● Focus on anti-inflammatory foods such as leafy greens, berries, nuts, and omega-3-rich sources.

● Minimize processed foods, alcohol, and excessive sugar or caffeine consumption.

7. Grounding Practices

Reconnection with the earth can help stabilize energy and promote balance.

● Spend time outdoors, walking barefoot on grass, sand, or natural surfaces.

● Practice grounding techniques such as deep breathing.

8. Mindful Movement

Encourage your body to remain open and aligned by incorporating gentle movement into your day.

● Practice light exercises like walking or gentle stretching, to maintain circulation and support nervous system balance.

● Avoid heavy lifting or intense physical exertion until you feel fully stabilized.

By incorporating these aftercare practices, you can amplify the benefits of Spinal Flow Therapy and support your body’s natural ability to heal and thrive. Always consult your practitioner for any specific recommendations tailored to your individual needs.
